Giving Peace a Chance: The Creative Use of Alternative Dispute Resolution Techniques

Program: "Giving Peace a Chance: The Creative Use of ADR Mechanisms and Techniques to Facilitate Private Dispute Resolution" (ADR = Alternative Dispute Resolution) The presentation will discuss the advantages of early dispute resolution in probate, trust, and estate disputes and the variety of creative mechanisms and techniques available. Probate, trust, and estate-related disputes present a wholly different set of challenges than commercial disputes and require mechanisms and techniques tailored to the nature of the dispute. The presentation will also discuss arbitration agreements and enforcement under Fla. Sta. s. 731.401. The presentation will promote audience participation and exchange of ideas and time will be reserved for Q&A. Speaker: Michael J. Dewberry, Esq. Michael J. Dewberry is a member of the firm of Rogers Towers in their Jacksonville office, where he began his legal career 32 years ago. He is a graduate of FSU and a 1977 graduate of the University of Florida School of Law. He is a litigator who has also served as a mediator and arbitrator for the past 14 years. His litigation and mediation/arbitration practices have included a large number of probate, trust and estate matters. He regularly writes and speaks on the creative use of ADR in presuit and non-litigation disputes.
