Speaker's Bio:
Scott began his practice in 1989 as a litigator representing insurance companies and large self-insured employers in workers’ compensation matters. In 2004, Scott decided that he would rather help people than argue with them and later decided to focus his practice on estate planning and eldercare, with a focus on helping the elderly remain at home for as long as possible and plan to protect their life’s savings from long-term care costs.

Scott is chairman of The Florida Bar Elder Law Section’s Legislative Committee, and serves on The Elder Law Section’s Medicaid Committee. Scott also serves on the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorney’s Joint Public Task Force for the Elderly and Disabled. Scott served on a 21 member advisory panel created by the Agency for Health Care Administration to improve Medicaid Services to Disabled Adults and was appointed by the Secretary of the Agency for Health Care Administration to serve on the ALF Workforce, whose mission was to review laws and regulations affecting the safety of elders residing in an Assisted Living Facility.
In May, 2012, Scott was awarded the Charlotte Brayer Public Service Award by the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar for his leadership of the Legislative Committee.

Scott serves many local organizations. He is Vice-President of the Center for the Visually Impaired, on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Volusia and Flagler Counties, and is an Ambassador for the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce to name a few.
Scott received his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and his J.D. from Stetson University's College of Law.
Scott has been married to Kimberly for 29 years and they have had 3 children, ages 26, 22, and 15.
